Ⅰ General Indication

CHINA HOROLOGE ASSOCIATION is an industry and commercial enterprise engaging in production and business of watch & clock, and it is a trade organization voluntarily composed by some research institutes and universities. It is a juridical person of community. China Economy & Trade Commission directs it in operation. Horology Association was founded in 1985 and has 240 party members including some research institutes and universities as well as production enterprises engaging in clock, watch, watch & clock parts, casing parts, raw materials, equipment and instruments.

Ⅱ Association tenet and tasks

The tenet of CHINA HOROLOGE ASSOCIATION is to serve the party members, to protect the legal right of the members and to promote the trade development. Its function is like a bridge and tache between government and members.

1 Reflect the wishes and requirements of members as well as the trade to the related department of the government; propagandizing the related guideline, policy and decree of the government; accepting the government lead and the trade management consigned by the charge department.

2 Provide services for the government, trade and members in the trade development and business policies, such as studying the trade development stratagem, providing the internal and external markets information, giving technical consultation etc.

3 Drive the industry to deepen reform. To regulate the economic activities of enterprises, such as formulating the rule of the trade, the agreement of the trade, assisting the related department to defeat activities for imitated and bad-quality products.

4 Represent China horology industries to take part in the international horology trade activities.

5 Provide the opportunities for enterprises to extend markets. Such as since 1986, it has hold the China International Watch, Clock & Jewellery Fair once a year; has organized a delegation to take part in Basel World Watch, Clock and Jewellery Show in Switzerland.

6 Provide members related information by the Information Center of Horology Association: quarter report of data statistic of horology enterprises for production, marketing and storage; quarter report of data statistic of watch & clock parts enterprises for production, marketing and storage; watch & clock information and the associational journal 《Watch & Clock》 etc.

7 Set up a Professional Training Center that main task is to train people urgently needed by enterprises and main way is to hold a training class.

Ⅲ Association structure

The highest authority organization of CHINA HOROLOGE ASSOCIATION. China is the members meeting. The council and administrative council deputize its duty in the rest period. The secretariat is the standing body of the association and deal with daily work. The information center and the training center are established under the association. According to the sorts of products of enterprises, the association possesses watch professional group, clock professional group, timer professional group, watch & clock parts professional group and watch & clock materials professional group etc.

Ⅳ Members rights and obligation

The members of the association have the following rights:
1 elect right, being elected rights and supervision right.
2 suggest and criticism rights for the association work.
3 join the activities organized by the association.
4 acquire the related information of the association, enjoying the services provided by this association.
5 have the right of asking the association to protect their legal right not to be violated.

The members of this association have the following obligation:
1 complies with the association regulation.
2 carries out the association resolution, regulation and working hard for fulfilling tasks consigned by the association.
3 actively join the various activities organized by the association.
4 supply the information about production, technology and management etc for the association.
5 pay the tax on time.

Ⅴ The latest situation of the association work

As so far, China has become the main watch & clock production country. Promoting the development of the trade as the aim, the association hosts China International Watch, Clock & Jewellery Fair in Beijing in every autumn; every spring, the association organize a delegation to take part in the Basel World Watch, Clock and Jewellery Show; on October 9, 1997, China Horology Federation was established by four trade organizations of CHINA HOROLOGE ASSOCIATION, Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd., The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industry Ltd., and Taiwan Watch and Clock Industry Association. This strengthens the exchange and study of the information and discusses some common concerned issues. CHINA HOROLOGE ASSOCIATION has build friendly relationships with some watch & clock production countries for a long time. They are Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, Japan Clock & Watch Association, Korea Watch & Clock Industry Corporation and Singapore Clock & Watch Trade Association, etc.

The association organizes a delegation to take part in the proseminar of Asian Watch & Clock Industry and Business Promotion held once two years and joins international activities to do the best service.

Ⅵ How to join the association

The members of the association are all party members. All industry and business enterprises which possess legal business license producing and dealing in watch and clock and related enterprises as well as related research institutes and universities can apply for joining the association under the situation of admitting the associational constitution and paying the tax.

Applying to join the association must go through the following procedures: apply voluntarily; fill the requisition for joining the association; introduced by two directors; inspected and approved by the association council or standing council; each member pay the tax of a thousand yuan yearly.
